A brief history of the Minneapolis & St. Louis mainline from Mason City to Peoria and Albia:

06/26/21

Located near 6th Avenue and H Street in Oskaloosa, this bridge is the eastern of two bridges at tis location.
Built in approximately 1920 to replace a previous, lighter bridge; this bridge features a single I-Beam span, set onto timber pile piers and approached by trestle spans. At one time, the Rock Island ran a branch line underneath here.
It is unknown for certain when the bridge was built, although it appears to be a 1920s structure. Bridges like this are incredibly common for all uses.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in fair to good condition, with little serious deterioration.

The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
